coxbangla report(20 june) :: A new opportunity has opened up for the country’s media professionals.
The Sustainable Media Collaboration is an initiative funded by the European Union, in collaboration with Free Press Unlimited and Article Nineteen, which is one of 16 projects in Bangladesh (excluding the 3 hill districts) under the Free Press Collaboration Lab-2 under the project Joining Forces: CSOs and Media for Accountability in Bangladesh, which starts in October 2024.
Free Press Unlimited is based in the Netherlands and Article Nineteen is based in London, two organizations that work on media freedom worldwide.
On June 18th, 2025, a workshop was held on the Sustainable Media Curriculum and Modules of the Sustainable Media Collaboration project.
Sustainable Media Curriculum and Module is a 5-module course open to all journalists and those interested in journalism in Bangladesh, published on the online learning platform Ostad (Ostad.app).
The modules of the course are Ethical Journalism, Geo-Politics, Climate Change Reporting, Advanced Storytelling, Fact-Checking Tools and Combating Misinformation.
Content support for the curriculum development was provided by Factwatch BD, the Curriculum and Module Development Partner of the Sustainable Media Collaboration Project, and ULAB, and technical support was provided by the online learning platform Ostad Limited. Sustainable Media Collaboration is an initiative for the development of journalists and media in Bangladesh, which is being implemented with the overall support of BetterStories Limited, a private limited company based in Dhaka.
This initiative is expected to further encourage evidence-based, public interest journalism and make a significant contribution to improving the quality of the country’s media.
